Anthony Stones – Get Together on the River, 1987

A charming and atmospheric original oil painting on canvas by Anthony Stones (New Zealander, born 1933), depicting a relaxed group enjoying a day on the river in a small rowing boat.

The painting captures a wonderfully light and impressionistic riverside scene, with figures in summer clothing, reflections across the water and a soft blue-grey sky. The loose, expressive brushwork and fresh palette create a peaceful and distinctly leisurely atmosphere.

The work is signed and dated lower right “Stones 87”, dating the painting to 1987.

A lovely example of Anthony Stones’ work, combining an informal riverside subject with expressive brushwork and a soft, summery palette. A decorative and characterful painting that would work beautifully in a living room, country house, coastal interior or art collection.
