Description

A charming British 19th/early 20th-century landscape and genre oil painting depicting Rawcliffe Hall, Fylde, with two elegantly dressed ladies enjoying tea on the lawn, while figures can be seen in the grounds beyond.

The painting presents a picturesque country-house setting, with detailed architectural features, mature trees, gardens and a winding driveway. The intimate inclusion of the ladies taking tea gives the work a particularly attractive social and domestic character.

The reverse bears an old descriptive label identifying the work as “Figures Outside Rawcliffe Hall”, together with biographical information relating to Charles Haigh-Wood (1856–1927). A further handwritten note refers to “Rawcliffe Hall, Fylde” and is dated 1990.
