Mary Pringle

A charming late 19th century watercolour portrait by Mary Pringle, depicting a seated young lady in traditional dress, wearing a pearl necklace and resting beside a stone wall with trees and sky beyond.

The work is signed and dated 1899 lower right. The mount is titled/inscribed:

“Mary Pringle Exh. R.I. R.A. Studied Royal Academia Milan”

Presented in a decorative gilt frame with glazed front and lined mount. A lovely period portrait watercolour with strong decorative appeal, ideal for collectors of Victorian and late 19th century portraiture, female studies and traditional framed works on paper.

Condition Description

Antique framed and glazed watercolour. The artwork presents well overall, with age-related toning, light marks and general wear visible under the glass. The mount has some age-related discolouration and small marks. The gilt frame has wear, rubbing, cracks, losses and repairs, particularly to the raised decorative corner mouldings. Backing board and hanging wire are present, with general age-related wear to the reverse. Please study all photos carefully as they form part of the condition report.
