An atmospheric marine oil painting by the celebrated British artist William John Wyllie RA (1851–1931), titled On The Beach.

This beautifully composed panoramic coastal scene captures fishing boats and figures gathered along the shoreline beneath dramatic shafts of evening light breaking through cloud cover. The painting displays Wyllie’s exceptional understanding of atmosphere, maritime activity and reflected light for which he became internationally renowned.

Executed in oil on canvas and signed lower right, the work is presented in an elegant ripple moulded frame which complements the painting perfectly.

A fine and highly collectible example of late 19th / early 20th century British marine painting by one of the foremost maritime artists of the Victorian and Edwardian period.
