Edward Loxton Knight (1905-1993) was a British landscape painter, printmaker, and poster designer. Born in Long Eaton, Derbyshire, he studied fine art at the Nottingham School of Art. He achieved early commercial success in the 1920s and 1930s, notably designing the silhouette logo for Sandeman Port and creating striking travel posters during the golden age of British railway advertising.
As a fine artist, Knight was renowned for his serene British landscape paintings in tempera and watercolor, as well as his intricate color woodcuts featuring stylized forms and bold silhouettes. He signed his works "Loxton Knight" and exhibited widely in London and New York, earning memberships in prestigious groups like the Royal Society of British Artists. Today, his work is held in major public collections, including the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
