Description

A striking 19th-century mountainous landscape by Charles Thomas Burt (1823–1902), depicting a dramatic Highland-style landscape with rugged mountains, atmospheric skies, a distant valley and reflective water.

The painting demonstrates Burt’s characteristic interest in expansive landscapes, with a rich, earthy palette and atmospheric treatment of the mountains and sky.

Signed, oil on canvas, and presented in a substantial and highly decorative antique giltwood frame with moulded decoration and ornate corner details.

A particularly impressive large-scale painting that would make a wonderful statement piece in a traditional, period or country-house interior.
