Gerard Passet

An attractive mid-20th century oil on canvas by French artist Gerard Passet (1936–2013), titled/described as “Entrance to a Village.”

Painted in 1963, the work depicts a quiet tree-lined road leading into a French village, with houses and buildings appearing beyond the tall trees. Passet uses a distinctive loose, expressive technique with areas of textured impasto and a restrained palette of soft greens, ochres, creams and greys.

The painting is signed and dated ‘63 lower right, with a further signature and date to the reverse of the canvas.

Presented in a substantial period-style gilt and dark-toned frame, ready for display.
