A charming 19th Century English School oil on canvas portrait depicting a seated lady wearing a finely painted white bonnet and lace collar, set against a dark background with a red upholstered chair visible to the side.

The painting is unsigned and presented in a decorative gilt frame. The sitter is shown in traditional early to mid 19th century dress, with soft facial modelling and attractive period detail to the bonnet and collar.

The reverse bears an old handwritten label, appearing to reference “P. A. Stables, 4 Wist Sq, London” and additional stock or catalogue numbers. This is transcribed only as seen and has not been independently verified.

A very decorative antique portrait, ideal for collectors of English School paintings, period portraiture, country house interiors, Georgian or Victorian decor.

The painting has visible age-related craquelure, surface marks, varnish/glare and general wear. There may be historic restoration or retouching, though this has not been professionally examined.
