Condition

The painting is offered in antique condition with wear consistent with age.

The canvas displays craquelure, surface dirt, scattered marks and small areas of paint disturbance. There is a small puncture or hole visible in the lower right section of the composition, together with wear near the right edge. There may also be historic retouching, varnish discolouration or previous restoration that has not been examined under specialist lighting.

The gilt composition frame has extensive age-related wear, including cracking, losses, rubbing, discolouration, old repairs and separation around some corners and decorative elements. The reverse is covered with aged backing paper, which has tears, staining and general deterioration. The hanging arrangement appears to be a later replacement.

The frame is included as part of the presentation and is supplied in its current fragile antique condition.
