Robert Buchan Nisbet RSA R.B. Nisbet RSA (1857-1942) Chrysanthemums Floral Still Life Oil Painting

Chrysanthemums

A beautiful oil on canvas still-life painting of chrysanthemums, by the Scottish artist Robert Buchan Nisbet (1857–1942).

The painting depicts a striking arrangement of pale yellow/cream chrysanthemums displayed in a decorative green glass vase against a deep, atmospheric dark background. The loose, expressive brushwork and rich tonal contrast give the flowers considerable depth and character.

The reverse retains an original Art Cellar label from L. J. Brown & Co., 45a Hanover Street, Edinburgh, identifying the work as “Chrysanthemums” by R. B. Nisbet, R.S.A. This is a particularly interesting feature for collectors and adds provenance/history to the piece.

Nisbet was a respected Scottish artist and member of the Royal Scottish Academy (RSA). His works are represented in auction and institutional collections, with his paintings regularly appearing on the secondary art market.

Condition
