Hendrikus Johannes Fransiscus van Langen

An original oil on canvas by the Dutch artist Hendrikus Johannes Fransiscus van Langen (1874-1964), depicting a woman at work in a traditional scullery. The painting is signed lower left “H. van Langen” and is presented in an attractive period ornate gilt frame.

Van Langen was a Dutch portrait and genre painter who worked in Schiedam before settling in Haarlem from 1941 onwards. He is particularly known for intimate interior scenes and portraits.

The composition beautifully captures a quiet domestic moment, with warm earthy tones and subtle lighting creating a peaceful atmosphere.
