Original antique oil on canvas painting by Carl-Gustaf Rahmberg / Carl Gustaf Rahmberg of Sweden, titled “Villa Carina”.

The work is signed to the lower left and dated 1909. It depicts a winter landscape with Villa Carina in the foreground, snow-covered rooftops and grounds, and a broad coastal view beyond. The accompanying note to the reverse describes the scene as a bird’s-eye view from Rahmberg’s studio window, with the sound between Sweden and Denmark visible in the background.

The note also states that Villa Carina was built in 1905 for Consul Lloyd Lundström, and that Kronborg Castle can be seen in the distance. It further notes that the studio of artist Nils Forsberg stood behind the villa.

A charming and atmospheric early 20th century Swedish School painting, with strong decorative appeal and excellent provenance interest from the original reverse note.

Carl Gustaf Rahmberg is recorded as a Swedish artist born in 1865 and deceased in 1916, with auction records for signed works from the same period.

Original antique condition with visible age-related wear. The painting presents beautifully overall, with craquelure, surface marks, and natural age-related wear visible to the painted surface. The frame has losses, rubbing, chips, flaking, gilt wear and general wear throughout, as shown in the photos. There is an old label and written note to the reverse.
