An elegant early 19th century oil on canvas portrait attributed to Peter Edward Stroehling (German, 1768–1826), depicting a young woman resting her hand upon a harp.
The sitter is portrayed in a refined Regency Romantic manner with finely rendered facial features, curled hair, and an atmospheric background. The composition and styling are characteristic of early 19th century portraiture with strong Romantic and Neoclassical influences.
Presented in an impressive deep gilt decorative frame with ornate Rococo-style detailing.
The work is unsigned and accompanied by historical paperwork including a 1991 insurance valuation and restoration invoice from the Roland Goslett Gallery, Richmond, Surrey, attributing the painting to Peter Eduard Stroehling.
