Description
A beautiful Victorian portrait of a lady by Eden Upton Edis (1812–1901), depicting the sitter in a refined head-and-shoulders composition.
Executed in graphite and chalk, the drawing displays delicate modelling, expressive eyes and finely rendered hair and clothing. The work is initialled and dated 1891 in the lower right.
Presented in an attractive antique gilt frame with glazing and a decorative mount.

Condition
The drawing is in antique condition, with age-related paper toning, foxing, spotting and minor marks visible to the artwork and mount. The frame has signs of age, wear and areas of gilt loss. The reverse backing is also aged and worn, as shown in the photographs.
